More than $10 billion has been committed by the Australian Government to national security programs and initiatives since 9/11. This dramatic expenditure surge has been matched by an increase in demand for security professionals to join government agencies and private contractors. For example, Australia’s lead security agency, ASIO is pursuing net annual growth of 170 people and has lifted investment in training and development to more than $3.5 million a year.

Australia’s education and training providers have responded to the demand for skilled security personnel through the establishment of a variety of new academic courses and programs. The August issue of ANSM takes a close look at the security education marketplace to inform our readers about which institutes and training providers are setting the pace.

And of course before security personnel are recruited into an organisation, they must have appropriate clearances. We examine the vetting and recruitment services employed to clear security personnel in this high growth environment.
